So, I’ve been having this super annoying dry skin issue lately. You know how it is, especially on my elbows and knees. They get so rough and flaky, it’s gross. I’ve got tons of hand cream lying around the house, different brands, different scents, you name it. I use them all the time, multiple times a day actually, but just on my hands. Then it hit me – can I just use these hand creams on the rest of my body, especially on those problem areas?
I decided to do a little experiment. First, I started with a patch test. I applied a little bit of my usual hand cream on a small area of my arm, just to be safe. Waited for about 24 hours to see if there was any weird reaction. Nothing happened, so that was good.
Next, I went for it. After my shower, I grabbed my favorite hand cream – it’s this one, it’s kind of thick and rich – and slathered it onto my elbows and knees. I did this twice a day, once in the morning after my shower and once at night before bed. I also made sure to apply more whenever I washed my hands or did anything that involved water or harsh chemicals, like cleaning. I was pretty diligent about it, to be honest.
- Day 1-3: Honestly, didn’t notice much of a difference. My elbows and knees were still pretty rough. But, I figured it takes time, so I kept going.
- Day 4-7: Okay, now we’re talking. I started to feel a change. The skin on my elbows and knees felt a bit softer, less like sandpaper. The flakiness also seemed to reduce a little bit.
- Day 8-14: This is where things got interesting. My elbows and knees were significantly smoother. The dryness was almost gone, and the flakiness was barely noticeable. I was actually impressed.
My conclusion? It totally works! Using hand cream on my body, especially on those super dry areas like elbows and knees, made a real difference. It took a little bit of time and consistency, but the results were worth it. Now, I don’t have to buy separate body lotions for those areas, which is a win. I can just use my trusty hand creams. They’re designed to hydrate and protect the skin, so it makes sense that they would work on other parts of the body, too. Just remember to do a patch test first, especially if you have sensitive skin. And apply it regularly, twice a day at least, and after any activity that might dry out your skin.
I even tried using those hand creams on my face, but it felt a bit too heavy and greasy. Maybe because those creams are made for thicker skin. So I think I’ll stick to using it on my body only.
Give it a try and see if it works for you! It definitely worked for me, and now my skin feels so much better.
