Okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out this whole fasting thing and whether or not my usual stuff messes it up. Specifically, I was wondering about creatine. I take it every day, you know, for the gains, but I didn’t want it messing with my fast.
So, I started by just looking around to see what other folks were saying. Most of what I found basically said that creatine is fine because it doesn’t have any calories. Makes sense, right? You fast to keep your calories super low, so zero calories should be all good.
But, you know, I like to see things for myself. So, I decided to do a little experiment. I continued with my normal fasting routine, which for me is usually about 16 hours a day. I would only drink water, black coffee, that kind of thing.
Then, I kept taking my creatine like I always do. I just mixed it with water during my eating window. I did this for a couple of weeks, really paying attention to how I felt during my fasts.
- Did I feel hungrier than usual? Nope.
- Did I feel weaker or more tired? Nope.
- Did my fasts feel harder to complete? Not at all.
Honestly, I didn’t notice any difference at all. My fasts felt exactly the same as before I started thinking about this whole creatine thing.
So, based on my little experiment, and what I read, I’m pretty confident saying that creatine doesn’t break a fast. At least, it didn’t for me.
But remember, I’m just some guy on the internet. I would say always listen to your body and adjust if need be.
Conclusion
From what I’ve seen and experienced, you can keep taking your creatine without messing up your fasting. But as with everything, your results might be different, so pay attention to how your body feels and then adjust!
