Alright, let’s talk about them black kismis, you know, the little black wrinkly things? Yeah, those. People say they’re good for ya, but I always say, too much of anything ain’t good. But a little bit, now and then, that’s alright.
I hear tell you can buy ’em online, just about everything you can buy online these days. Used to be you had to go to the store, but not no more. Spices and all sorts of things, right there on your computin’ machine. Fancy, ain’t it? But I still like goin’ to the store, seein’ things with my own eyes, ya know?
Anyways, these kismis, they’re dried up grapes, they say. Sweet like candy, but not the bad kind, the good kind, I guess. They got this stuff in ’em, fiber they call it, good for your insides. And other things, like them anti-what-ya-call-its, and pot-something-or-other, iron too. Sounds fancy, but all I know is they’re supposed to be good for ya.
- Fiber: Good for keepin’ things movin’, if you know what I mean.
- Antioxidants: Keeps you from gettin’ all rusty inside, like an old tractor.
- Potassium: Keeps your heart a-pumpin’, steady as she goes.
- Iron: Gives you energy, so you ain’t tired all the time.
Now, some folks say the golden ones are the best, but I like the black ones. They’re chewier, and they taste… well, they taste like somethin’ good. And they got them black munnaka, too, bigger ones, I think. They all good for ya, but don’t go eatin’ a whole bag at once, ya hear? A handful, that’s enough.
They say you should soak ’em in water before you eat ’em. Makes ‘em all plump and juicy. I don’t know about all that, I just eat ’em as they are. But I heard tellin’ it’s better to soak them. About eight or ten of ‘em a day, that’s what they say. Not too many, not too few. Just right.
And some of them kismis got seeds, and some don’t. The ones with seeds, they say they got more of that iron and that other stuff, cal-see-um, I think it is. But the seedless ones are easier to eat, no doubt about that. You ain’t gotta spit nothin’ out. It’s all a matter of what you like, I reckon.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ sweet and good for ya, try them black kismis. Just a little bit, remember. Too much of anything ain’t good, but a little bit, now and then, that’s just fine. And if you don’t like ‘em, well, that’s alright too. Plenty of other things to eat in this world.
I heard some folks put them kismis in their oatmeal, or in their baked goods, like muffins and such. I ain’t much for fancy cookin’, but I reckon it’d taste alright. Me, I just eat ‘em straight from the bag, a little snack now and then. Keeps me goin’, ya know?
So there you have it, my two cents on them black kismis. They ain’t a magic cure-all, but they ain’t bad for ya neither. Just a little somethin’ sweet and chewy, to tide you over. And remember, everything in moderation, that’s the key to a good life, I always say.
Dried grapes, fancy or not, they are just good snacks. And good for you too. Ain’t that somethin’? Something sweet that’s good for you.
