Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while, and today’s the day. I did a thing, a “hair bath” thing, and let me tell you, it was something else. I’ve always just washed my hair in the shower, like most people, right? But I read some stuff online about doing it separately, like, bending over the bathtub, and thought, why not give it a go?
First off, I gathered all my stuff – you know, shampoo, conditioner, a towel. The usual suspects. Then, I filled the bathtub with some warm water. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. I kneeled beside the tub, kind of awkward, I won’t lie, and dunked my head in. Yeah, just straight in, like I was bobbing for apples or something.
Washing and Rinsing
Once my hair was all wet, I grabbed the shampoo and lathered up. It felt weird doing it upside down. I scrubbed my scalp, really getting in there, then rinsed it all out with the water in the tub. I had to scoop the water with my hands and pour it over my head. It wasn’t as easy as just standing under the showerhead, that’s for sure.
- Shampooing: Lathered up real good.
- Conditioning: Slapped some conditioner on, left it in for a bit.
- Rinsing: Used my hands to scoop water and rinse.
After the shampoo came the conditioner. I slapped some of that on, worked it through my hair, and then just kind of hung out for a few minutes with my head upside down. I guess this is the part where people think it’s better for your skin not to have all that stuff running down your back in the shower. Anyway, I rinsed the conditioner out the same way, scooping water and pouring.
When I was done, I wrapped my hair in a towel, stood up, and honestly, I felt a little dizzy. Maybe that’s just me. But my hair? It felt clean, that’s for sure. And I guess my back didn’t get all that soapy residue, so maybe there’s something to this whole hair bath thing.
Would I do it again? I don’t know. It was kind of a hassle, but it was also kind of interesting. Maybe if I had a fancy bathtub setup with one of those detachable showerhead things, it would be easier. But for now, I think I’ll stick to my regular shower routine. Still, it was worth a try, just to see what the fuss was about. And hey, now I can say I’ve done a “hair bath.” There’s that, at least.
