So, this morning I woke up and noticed something pretty messed up – blood on my pillow. Yeah, not the best way to start the day. I immediately checked myself for any cuts or whatever, but found nothing.
Then, it hit me. I remembered reading somewhere that this could be because of something called bruxism. Basically, it’s when you grind your teeth at night. I figured, maybe that’s it. I probably clenched my teeth too hard, and my gums started bleeding. It’s not like I’m a dentist, but it made sense.

- First, I grabbed a cotton ball and some hydrogen peroxide.
- I soaked the cotton in the peroxide and dabbed it on the stains.
- It fizzed up like crazy – kind of cool, but also gross.
- After letting it sit for a bit, I threw the pillowcase in the wash.
But that wasn’t enough. I needed to know why this was happening. I spent the next hour or so going down a rabbit hole online. It turns out, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, and even bed bugs can cause this. Bed bugs? Seriously? That freaked me out a bit, not gonna lie. I inspected my bed like a hawk but found no signs of those little pests, thank goodness.
I also learned that blood from bed bugs usually shows up near the foot of the bed or right between the pillow and pillowcase. Mine was just random spots, so I ruled that out pretty quickly.
So, yeah, that was my morning. A bit of a scare, a mini science experiment, and a whole lot of Googling. I still don’t know for sure what caused it, but I’m leaning towards the teeth grinding thing. I guess I’ll have to pay more attention to that. Maybe I should look into getting a mouthguard or something. Anyway, that’s my story. Not exactly how I planned to spend my day, but hey, life happens, right?
