So, I’ve been noticing lately that my hair’s been feeling kinda rough and looking a bit dull, especially after spending time outdoors. I figured it might be the sun doing a number on it, just like it does to our skin, right?
I started digging around a bit and found out that, yeah, our hair actually needs protection from those UV rays too. Who knew? I mean, it makes sense when you think about it.
Anyway, my first move was to start wearing hats more often. I got myself a couple of those wide-brimmed ones with the UPF rating – figured that’s a good start. I also started using scarves sometimes, especially when I know I’ll be out for a long time.
But I didn’t stop there. I went and got myself some of those UV-protective hair products. Sprays, mostly. It’s pretty easy, just spritz some on before heading out, kinda like putting on sunscreen.
- Started wearing hats: I started using those with a UPF rating to block out those harmful rays.
- Tried out scarves: It’s another layer of protection, plus it can be a nice fashion statement.
- Invested in UV-protective hair products: Mostly sprays, since they’re easy to apply and don’t weigh my hair down.
I’ve also been trying to be more mindful of how much heat I’m using on my hair. Less blow-drying, less straightening. I’m trying to embrace the natural look more often. When I do use heat, I make sure to use a heat protectant spray first.
And of course, I’ve been keeping up with my regular hair care routine, I’ve been trying to keep it moisturized and healthy. That means using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. I do a deep conditioning treatment like once a week to give it an extra boost.
Honestly, I’ve already started to notice a difference. My hair feels softer, and it’s got a bit more shine to it. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s definitely an improvement!
What I Learned
Sun protection isn’t just for your skin, it is important for your hair also! It’s all about making small changes and being consistent with them. And hey, if you have any other tips for keeping hair healthy and protected from the sun, let me know!
