Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya’ll about this here… what do they call it? Horse yoga. Yep, that’s it. Horse yoga. Sounds plumb crazy, don’t it? But hold your horses, it ain’t as wild as it sounds.
First off, what in tarnation is it? It ain’t like them horses are gonna be doin’ no downward dog, that’s for sure. It’s more about you, connectin’ with your horse. See, it’s all about gettin’ calm and peaceful like. They say it’s good for your mind, like them fancy folks with their “mindfulness” somethin’ or other. They call it “Mindfulness Meditation Retreat” or somethin’ fancy like that, but we just call it gettin’ peace and quiet.
- First, you gotta get close to your horse, real close.
- But you can’t just go barging in there like a bull in a china shop.
- You gotta be gentle, like you’re approachin’ a skittish deer.
- You gotta talk to ’em soft-like, let ’em know you ain’t gonna hurt ’em.
Then, you start doin’ some stretchin’ and bendin’. Not too much, mind you. Just enough to loosen up them old bones. I ain’t no spring chicken no more, so I gotta take it easy. And the horse, well, he just stands there, bein’ all calm and peaceful. It’s kinda like you’re both sharin’ the same quiet space. They say you gotta build a connection with your horse and that’s real important in this horse yoga thing.
Now, there’s this thing they call the “Horse Yoga Pose.” Sounds mighty important, don’t it? Well, it ain’t nothin’ too fancy. You just stand there, strong and steady, like a horse. It’s supposed to make you feel powerful and balanced. And you know what? It kinda does. Makes you feel like you can handle anything life throws at ya. They say it makes you flexible and less stressed, and I reckon that’s true enough.
The best part is, the horse likes it too. It ain’t like you’re askin’ him to work or nothin’. It’s just a nice, gentle time together. You can give him a little massage, scratch him behind the ears. He’ll appreciate that, you betcha. This whole horse yoga thing is a way to spend time with your horse without always askin’ somethin’ from them. It’s somethin’ they can enjoy because it’s calm and gentle like a massage.
And you don’t gotta be no yoga expert to do it. I ain’t never done no yoga in my life, ‘cept for maybe reachin’ for that last cookie on the top shelf. But this here horse yoga, it’s different. It’s easy, it’s peaceful, and it’s good for the soul. And if you ain’t never done no regular yoga, that’s just fine. This here is different.
They say you gotta let the horse walk a bit after, just to let him relax. Like when you’re ridin’, you give him a loose rein and let him catch his breath. It’s the same kinda thing. Just let the horse walk for about five minutes or so to relax, that’s what they say.
So, there you have it. Horse yoga. It ain’t as crazy as it sounds. It’s just about spendin’ time with your horse, gettin’ calm, and feelin’ good. And ain’t that what life’s all about? Findin’ a little peace and quiet in this crazy world, and sharin’ it with a good friend. And if that friend happens to be a horse, well, that’s just fine by me.
Give horse yoga a try, y’all. You might just surprise yourself. You might just find that it’s exactly what you needed. A little peace, a little quiet, and a whole lotta horse love.
And that’s all there is to it, simple as pie. Nothin’ fancy, just good ol’ fashioned horse sense and a little bit of stretchin’. You and your horse, together, findin’ some peace in this busy world.
