Okay, so, let’s talk about porn. Yeah, you heard that right. It’s one of those things that everyone does but no one really talks about. So, I decided, why not? I’m gonna track my own habits and see what’s up.
I started this little experiment, I don’t know, maybe a month ago? I just wanted to see how often I was actually watching porn. Was it a once-in-a-while thing, or was I turning into a full-blown addict? I had no clue, really.
First thing I did was grab a notebook. Old school, I know, but it felt right. Every time I watched, I’d jot down the date, the time, and how long I spent. I even made a little note of what kind of stuff I was watching, just to be thorough. Don’t judge, okay?
The first week was… interesting. Turns out, I was watching more than I thought. Not like, hours every day, but definitely a few times a week. Mostly late at night when I was bored or, you know, just in the mood. I noticed that some days I’d watch like two or three times, and then I’d go a couple of days without even thinking about it. It was pretty random, to be honest.
Here’s what I found after the first week:
- Monday: 3 times
- Tuesday: 0
- Wednesday: 1 time
- Thursday: 2 times
- Friday: 0
- Saturday: 0
- Sunday: 4 times (don’t ask)
After a few weeks, I started to see a pattern. I was definitely watching more on the weekends. Maybe it was because I had more free time, or maybe I was just more relaxed. I also realized that I was watching more when I was stressed out about work or whatever. It was like a way to unwind, I guess. Kinda messed up if you think about it too hard.
But then, something weird happened. Just knowing that I was keeping track of it all made me watch less. It was like, once I was aware of it, I started to make different choices. Instead of automatically reaching for my phone, I’d do something else. Read a book, go for a walk, you know, normal people stuff.
My Takeaway
So, what did I learn from this whole thing? Well, first off, I’m not addicted to porn. That’s good, I guess. But I was definitely using it as a crutch sometimes, and that’s not so great. I also learned that just paying attention to my habits can make a big difference. It’s like, once you shine a light on something, it’s harder to ignore it. I read that only 4 percent of today’s Internet is porn, and while a tiny fraction of men watches for more than two hours at a sitting, I still want to make sure I’m not in that fraction.
I’m not saying I’m gonna quit porn altogether. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, in moderation. But I’m definitely gonna be more mindful about when and why I watch it. And I think that’s a good thing. Maybe you should try tracking your own habits, too. You might be surprised at what you find out. Oh, and I heard that Pornhub averaged 2.5 billion visits per month in 2022, which is crazy when you think about it. Just another reason why I felt like I needed to take a closer look at my own habits. It’s easy to get caught up in something that’s so readily available and normalized, you know?
