So, I wanted to try something new in my kitchen the other day, and I decided to make some tea with chia seeds. You know, those tiny little things that everyone says are super good for you.
First, I needed to get some chia seeds. I heard that Healthworks and Navitas Organics are pretty good brands, and they’re organic, which is a plus. But I ended up just grabbing a bag of Simple Truth Organic Black Chia Seeds from Kroger ’cause it was right there when I was doing my grocery shopping. Oh, also heard that the color is important. You want the black or white ones, not the brown ones. Those are no good.
Next, I boiled some water, just like I do for my regular tea. I used my favorite black tea bags, but I guess you could use any kind you like. While the water was heating up, I measured out about a tablespoon of chia seeds. I’ve read that these little guys are packed with fiber, so I didn’t want to overdo it, they told that chia seeds are calorie dense.
Once the tea was brewed, I took out the tea bags and poured the hot tea into a big glass. Then came the fun part – adding the chia seeds! I just dumped them in and gave it a good stir. At first, they kinda floated around and looked weird, but I knew I had to wait a bit.
After about 15-20 minutes, I checked on my tea. The chia seeds had absorbed some of the liquid and turned into this jelly-like consistency. It looked a little strange, I gotta admit, but I was curious. So I took a sip. I’ve also heard that buying whole chia seeds is better because they protect the omega-3 fats and vitamins better.

The Taste
Honestly, it wasn’t bad! The chia seeds didn’t really have a strong flavor, but they added a fun, unique texture to the tea. It was kinda like drinking bubble tea, but with smaller, softer bubbles. The tea itself tasted just like it usually does, so that was good.

The Verdict
I think I’ll definitely make this again. It’s an easy way to add some extra fiber and nutrients to my diet, and it’s kinda fun to drink. Plus, I like experimenting in the kitchen, and this was a successful little experiment. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy your tea, give it a try!
So, that’s my little adventure with chia seed tea. It wasn’t anything too crazy, but it was a nice change of pace. I’m always looking for ways to make healthy stuff a bit more interesting, and this definitely fits the bill.
