Okay, so I’ve been trying to get back into running. It’s been a while, and I’m definitely not in the best shape, but I’m pushing myself. Today was particularly rough, though.
I started my run like any other day. Put on my old running shoes, did some quick stretches – probably not enough, to be honest – and headed out. The first mile was okay. I was feeling it a bit, but nothing major.
- Mile 1: Feeling a bit winded, but okay.
Then, around the second mile, my stomach started to cramp up. At first, it was just a dull ache, but it quickly got worse. I slowed down to a walk, hoping it would go away, but it didn’t.
- Mile 2: Stomach cramps begin, getting worse. Slowed to a walk.
By the time I made it back home, I was in a lot of pain. I managed to drink some water, but even that felt like a challenge. I tried to eat some crackers later, and my stomach was still pretty upset.
- After Run: Severe stomach pain. Drank water. Tried crackers.
So, I ended up just laying down for a while, trying to relax and let my stomach settle. I remember reading something about bananas and rice being good for an upset stomach, but I didn’t have the energy to make anything.
Honestly, the whole experience was pretty discouraging. I really want to get back into running, but this makes me hesitant. I’m starting to think maybe I pushed myself too hard, or maybe I ate something weird before the run. I don’t know.
I’ll probably take it easy for the next few days and see how I feel. Maybe I’ll try some light walking instead of running. It’s a bummer, but I guess I need to listen to my body.
If this happens again I think I’ll try the BRAT diet. This is where you eat bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. I also need to remember to drink lots of water and cut back on coffee before my run.
I’m gonna do some research online and see if I can figure out what caused this. It’s frustrating, but I’m not giving up yet. I just need to figure out how to do this without, you know, feeling like my stomach is trying to escape my body.
