So, I started this whole thing because I noticed that whenever I eat oatmeal, I get really gassy. Like, really, really gassy. And it’s not just me, right? I figured other people must have this problem too. So, I decided to dive in and see what’s up with oatmeal and why it makes us fart like a broken tuba.
First thing I did was make myself a big bowl of oatmeal. Plain, nothing added. I chowed down and then just…waited. And waited. About an hour later, it started. The rumbling in my gut. Then, the bloating. And finally, the gas. Oh boy, the gas. It was like my stomach was hosting a brass band concert. I noted down the time and the, uh, “intensity” of the situation.
Next, I decided to get a little more scientific. I measured out half a cup of oatmeal – that’s what the internet said was a normal serving. Cooked it up with just water, no fancy stuff. This time, I also drank a big glass of water before, during, and after my oatmeal adventure. Just like what I read online. I figured staying hydrated might help with the whole digestion process. I even set a timer to track how long it took for the gas to kick in. It’s so embarrassing.
- Day 1: Ate the oatmeal, drank the water, felt like a balloon about to pop. Gas started within 90 minutes.
- Day 2: Same routine, but this time I tried to chew the oatmeal really, really well. Still gassy, but maybe a little less? Hard to tell.
- Day 3: Okay, this time I added some fruit to the oatmeal, thinking maybe some natural sugar might help. Nope. Still gassy. The farts, they just kept coming.
- Day 4: I just had to take a break from the oatmeal experiment today. I just had a small piece of bread and an egg. No more bloating, no more gas. Feeling so much better!
- Day 5: Back to my experiment. I made a small bowl of oatmeal. Cooked it up with just water. It’s about 3 hours since I finished it. Feel some gas building up. Also drank a big glass of water before and after. I’ll come back and update.
Conclusion
After a few days of this, I’ve realized a few things. One, oatmeal definitely makes me gassy. Two, drinking water might help a little, but it doesn’t solve the problem. And three, I need to find a breakfast that doesn’t turn me into a walking gas factory. I guess I should just give up on oatmeal for a while… Maybe I’ll try something else tomorrow, like eggs or something. It’s a work in progress, folks. I’ll keep you posted on my gas-free breakfast journey. It’s tough, but somebody’s gotta do it, right? Hope my fart experiment can help some of you guys in the future.
