Alright, so I’ve been seeing this “castor oil pulling” thing all over the internet lately. People are swearing by it, saying it’s like a miracle cure for everything. I was pretty skeptical, but I figured, hey, why not give it a shot? I’m always up for trying something new, especially if it’s natural and might make me feel better.
So, I grabbed a bottle of cold-pressed, hexane-free castor oil from the health food store. The bottle said to use about a tablespoon, so I poured that into a spoon. Honestly, it looked pretty thick and kind of gross. I took a deep breath and swished it around in my mouth. The texture was definitely weird, oily and slimy, but the taste wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, kind of bland, actually.
The instructions said to swish for about 15-20 minutes, which felt like an eternity. I set a timer and tried to distract myself by scrolling through my phone. My jaw started to get a little tired after a while, but I pushed through.
- First few days, I didn’t really notice much of a difference, other than my mouth feeling kind of clean afterward. I was like, “Okay, is this even doing anything?”
- But then, maybe after a week or so, I started to notice my teeth looked a bit whiter. Not like, super dramatically whiter, but definitely a little brighter. That was a nice surprise.
- And then, the craziest thing happened. I have this one tooth that’s always been a little sensitive, and the sensitivity just…disappeared. Like, completely gone. I couldn’t believe it. I kept poking it with my tongue, expecting to feel that little twinge, but nothing.
I’ve been oil pulling with castor oil for about a month now, and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. My mouth feels healthier overall, my teeth are a little brighter, and that sensitive tooth is still feeling great. I even noticed that I haven’t been getting as many canker sores, which is a huge win for me.
I’m not saying this is some magic cure-all, but for me, it’s definitely made a positive difference. I’m planning to keep it up and see if I notice any other benefits. It’s a simple, cheap, and natural thing to try, so if you’re curious, I say go for it! Just be prepared for that weird oily feeling in your mouth, haha.
