Okay, so, let’s talk about periods and tampons. I was on my period last week and had a bit of an incident, and I figured I’d share my experience so others can maybe avoid the same mishap.
It was a regular day, nothing out of the ordinary, or so I thought. I was working from home, which is my usual setup. I put in a fresh tampon in the morning, like I always do. Then, I got caught up in my work. I was really in the zone, you know? Hours passed, and I didn’t even think about taking a break. Big mistake.
Then I had to take a call, and that’s when I felt it – that dreaded dampness. I rushed to the bathroom, and sure enough, I had leaked. It was a mess! I was so mad at myself. I mean, how could I forget to change my tampon? My favorite pair of undies was ruined, and I had to do a load of laundry right then and there.
So, here’s what I learned from my little adventure:
- Change that thing often! Seriously, every 4-8 hours, or even more if you’re heavy. I knew this, but I still messed up.
- Don’t ignore your body. If you feel anything off, go check it out. Don’t wait until it’s too late like I did.
- Set reminders. I’ve started setting alarms on my phone to remind me to change my tampon. It’s a bit annoying, but better than another accident.
- Use a pad with your tampon. When I put a pad with my tampon at the same time, I felt much safer.
After cleaning up and changing, I decided to treat myself to some chocolate. Hey, I deserved it after that ordeal! This whole thing reminded me that I need to be more mindful of my body and not let work consume me to the point of neglecting basic self-care. It’s a lesson learned the hard way, but at least I can laugh about it now. And hopefully, my story can help someone else avoid a similar situation. Periods can be a pain, but with a bit of care and attention, we can get through them without too much drama.
Oh, and one more thing. If your tampon string breaks, don’t freak out. Just wash your hands, relax, and try to reach it with your fingers. If you can’t get it, try squatting or something. And if that doesn’t work, go see a doctor. No shame in that.
So yeah, that’s my story. It wasn’t my best day, but I got through it. And hey, now I have a funny story to tell. Plus, it’s a good reminder that we all make mistakes, and it’s okay to talk about them.
