Okay, so I saw this thing online about using salt to brush your teeth. Sounds weird, right? But I thought, why not give it a shot? I mean, people have been using salt for ages, so there must be something to it.
Day 1: The First Try
I grabbed some regular table salt from the kitchen and sprinkled a tiny bit on my toothbrush. It felt really strange. I started brushing, and man, it was salty! Like, really salty. The texture was kind of rough, too. Not gonna lie, it wasn’t the most pleasant experience. But I kept at it for a couple of minutes, just like I do with my regular toothpaste. After rinsing, my mouth felt kind of clean, but also a little raw.
Day 3: Getting Used to It?
I decided to keep going with this salt brushing thing for a few more days. I mean, you gotta give these things a fair chance, right? The salty taste was still there, but maybe I was getting used to it a bit. It still felt abrasive, though. Like I was scrubbing my teeth with tiny little rocks. I noticed that my gums felt a little sensitive after brushing, kind of like when you eat too much sour candy.
- Still super salty
- Feels rough on my teeth
- Gums are a bit sensitive
Day 5: Not Sure About This
Okay, I’m starting to have some serious doubts about this whole salt brushing thing. My teeth didn’t feel as clean as they usually do with regular toothpaste. And that sensitive feeling in my gums? It was getting worse, not better. I started to worry that I was actually doing more harm than good. I mean, I read somewhere that salt can be really harsh on your teeth enamel, and that’s not something I want to mess with.
- Teeth don’t feel super clean
- Gum sensitivity is getting worse
- Worried about enamel damage
Day 7: Calling it Quits
Alright, I’m done. I’m throwing in the towel on this salt brushing experiment. My gums are sore, my teeth feel weird, and I’m pretty sure I’m not doing my mouth any favors. I switched back to my regular toothpaste, and oh boy, what a relief! It felt so smooth and gentle compared to the salt. Plus, that minty freshness is just something you can’t beat.
So, here’s my take on brushing with salt: It’s not for me. Maybe it works for some people, but I’d rather stick with something that’s actually designed for cleaning teeth. I learned my lesson, anyway. Sometimes, the old ways aren’t always the best ways.
- Back to regular toothpaste – much better!
- Salt brushing is a no-go for me
- Lesson learned: don’t mess with a good thing
I hope my little experiment can help someone else out there who’s thinking about trying this. Just be careful, and listen to your body (and your mouth!).
