Well, let me tell ya, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this here hibiscus infused oil. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it ain’t nothin’ too complicated. It’s just oil with that pretty red flower, hibiscus, soaked in it. I figure it’s like makin’ sun tea, but with oil ‘stead of water. Some say you can use it for hair and skin. This old gal don’t understand fancy things. But I think I can figure it out.
Hibiscus Oil for Hair
My hair ain’t what it used to be. Thin and brittle, like a scarecrow’s. But I heard this hibiscus infused oil can help. They say it makes your hair grow. I don’t know about all that, but I’m willin’ to give it a try. Massage it on your head, they say. Leave it for 30 minutes or overnight. Then wash it with soap. Maybe it will work.
- Put oil on hair.
- Rub it in real good.
- Wait a while.
- Wash it out.
I reckon I can do that. Just gotta get me some of that hibiscus oil. Or maybe I can make my own. Just put the flower in some oil. I reckon it is that simple. Just like makin’ sun tea, right?
Hibiscus Oil for Skin
Now, my skin, that’s another story. Dry and wrinkled, like an old prune. But I hear tell this hibiscus infused oil can help with that, too. They say it makes your skin soft. I don’t know how, but it’s worth a shot. You can put it right on your skin, they say. No need to wash it off. Just rub it in like lotion. I got some coconut oil around here somewhere. I reckon that would work fine to make this.
I seen a girl make a hibiscus hair mask, too. She mashed up them hibiscus flowers and leaves into a paste. Looked like a right mess, but she said it was good for her hair. She put some kind of oil in it. Coconut, I think, or maybe olive. We got olive oil. We use it for cookin’.
- Hibiscus makes skin soft.
- Just rub it on.
- No need to wash.
Sounds easy enough. Maybe I’ll try it on my hands first. They’re always so dry from workin’ in the garden. If it works, maybe I’ll try it on my face. Gotta be careful, though. Don’t want to break out in a rash or somethin’.
Makin’ Your Own Hibiscus Oil
Now, if you’re like me and don’t wanna spend money on fancy store-bought stuff, you can make your own hibiscus infused oil. It ain’t hard. You just need some hibiscus flowers and some oil. I’ve seen folks use coconut oil, or olive oil, even sunflower oil.
There’s two ways to do it, they say. One way takes a long time, and the other way is quicker. The slow way, you just put the flowers in the oil and let it sit for a few weeks. The other way use heat to make the oil.
I reckon you can use dried hibiscus for this, too. I got some dried hibiscus in my cupboard. I use it to make tea sometimes. It’s good for what ails ya. Maybe it’ll be good for my hair and skin, too.
- Get some hibiscus, dried or fresh.
- Get some oil, like coconut or olive.
- Put the hibiscus in the oil.
- Wait a long time.
Using Heat for Hibiscus Oil
They say you can heat up the oil with the hibiscus in it. I guess that makes it infuse faster. Just be careful not to burn it, I reckon. And don’t burn yourself, neither! I’d probably use a double boiler for this. It’s like puttin’ one pot inside another pot with water in it. That way, the oil don’t get too hot. But I don’t know if it makes a difference. But the hibiscus infused oil using heat is faster.
- Put hibiscus in oil.
- Heat it up real slow.
- Don’t burn it!
- Let it cool down.
Once it’s all cooled down, you gotta strain out the flowers. I reckon you could use a cheesecloth for that, or maybe an old t-shirt. Just somethin’ to catch the flower bits so you just have the oil left. You can use this hibiscus infused oil for all kinds of things.
Hibiscus Salve
Now, I heard some folks make a salve out of this hibiscus infused oil. A salve is like a thick cream. They use it for cuts and scrapes and such. To make a salve, you gotta heat up the oil with some beeswax. Beeswax is what makes it thick, I reckon. Then you put the hibiscus infused oil in the beeswax to make a salve. That’s how I heard them do it. I never tried it. But it sounds like it would be good for dry skin.
This hibiscus infused oil is good for all sorts of things, or so I hear. It’s good for your hair, good for your skin, good for what ails ya. It’s easy to make, too. Just need some hibiscus flowers and some oil. You can use it plain, or you can make a salve out of it. It’s all up to you. You can even put some other herbs in there. If you want, you can add some other flowers or some of that lavender. Some folks like to make it smell good. I don’t know about that. Just plain old hibiscus infused oil is good enough for me.
