Okay, so I’ve been dealing with these killer period cramps lately, and I stumbled upon this whole acupressure thing. Figured I’d give it a shot and share my experience.
I started by looking up some info online – it’s kinda confusing with all these fancy point names. But I picked out a few that seemed easy enough to try. First one was Liver 3 (LV3). This one’s supposed to be in that fleshy part between your big toe and the second toe. Found it pretty easily, it’s kind of a tender spot anyway.
- I pressed on this LV3 point with my thumb, held it for like a minute or two, and then switched to the other foot. Did this a few times whenever I felt the cramps getting bad.
Next up was Large Intestine 4 (LI4). This is in the same kind of spot but on your hand, between the thumb and index finger. Again, a bit tender when you find the right place.
- Same deal here, pressed with my other thumb, held it, and repeated on both hands. I noticed that focusing on my breathing while doing this made it feel a bit more relaxing.
Then there’s something called Sp-10, but honestly, the name is pretty long, so I just think of it as the “leg point.” This one was a little harder to figure out, but basically, it’s a few inches above your inner ankle bone.
- For this one, I used my fingers to find the tender spot. It took a bit of exploring, but once I found it, I did the same pressing and holding routine.
I also tried some spots on my belly, just gently pressing around the lower abdomen area. It’s hard to say if I hit any specific “points,” but the pressure itself felt kinda soothing.
I did this whole routine on and off for a few days, whenever the cramps flared up. Honestly, it wasn’t some magic cure, but I think it did help take the edge off. Maybe it was the pressure, or maybe it was just taking a few minutes to focus on something other than the pain. Either way, it was worth a shot.
My Overall Impression
It’s not a miracle, but it seems to ease things a bit. I felt like it helped with the intensity of the cramps. Plus, it’s free and you can do it yourself, so that’s a win.
Oh, and one more thing I tried was Ren-4. This one is supposed to be for swelling, which I sometimes get during my period. It is a few inches below your belly button.
- I pressed on this spot a few times throughout the day. It is hard to tell if it made a huge difference in the swelling, but it didn’t hurt to try.
So, yeah, that’s my little experiment with acupressure for period pain. If you’re struggling with cramps, might be worth giving it a try. Just remember, I’m no expert, just a regular person sharing my experience. You might find different points that work better for you. Just poke around a bit, you might be surprised!
