So, I’ve been having this knee pain lately, especially after wearing high heels. I love my heels, but man, the pain afterward is just not worth it. I decided to figure out what was going on and how to deal with it.
First, I noticed that my calves felt super tight after a night out in heels. Turns out, those high heels can actually make your calf muscles shorter over time, which can mess with your knees and feet. I started doing a few things differently once I realized this.
- Resting up: When the pain flares up, I just take it easy for a bit. I stop wearing heels until the pain disappears. I give my knees a break to recover.
- Icing: I started using ice packs to help with the swelling and pain. It really does the trick to calm things down.
- Massaging: After wearing heels, I give my shin muscles a good massage. It feels amazing and helps loosen things up. I find the calf muscles are really tight, so giving them a good rub helps a ton.
- Stretching and strengthening: I found some simple stretches online that target the calves and muscles around the knees. I’ve been doing them regularly, and it’s made a noticeable difference. I also started doing some easy exercises to make my leg muscles stronger. Nothing too crazy, just some basic stuff to support my knees better. For example, when I get up to walk around the office I will do a few calf raises and squats.
It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m feeling much better now. I still wear my heels occasionally, but I’m way more mindful about it. I make sure to stretch before and after, and I don’t wear them for too long. If you’re dealing with knee pain from heels, give these things a try. It might take some time, but it’s worth it to be able to wear your favorite shoes without suffering later!
