Alright, so I finally did the whole hair rebonding thing. It’s been on my mind for a while because my hair’s always been a bit of a mess – all wavy and frizzy. I wanted that sleek, straight look without having to fight with my hair every morning.
So, first things first, I went to this salon that my friend recommended. They have this experienced stylist and she’s a hair expert. We had a chat about what I wanted, and she took a good look at my hair. She said my hair was healthy enough to handle the treatment, which was a relief. But she also said it’s important to know that this process is intense because it uses some strong chemicals. I have natural curls and she recommended the soft rebonding, said it’s gentler than the other methods, but still I was a bit nervous because you know, chemicals and stuff.
The whole process started with a hair wash. They used some special shampoo to make sure my hair was super clean. Then came the fun part – applying the relaxant cream. She sectioned my hair and put on this cream that’s supposed to break down the hair bonds. It smelled a bit funny, but not too bad. I had to sit with that cream on for about 30 minutes. It felt a little weird, like my hair was getting heavy.
After that, she rinsed out the cream and blow-dried my hair. Then came the real deal – straightening my hair with a flat iron. She did this very carefully, section by section. It took a while, and it was pretty hot. I could feel the heat, but it wasn’t burning or anything. Just had to stay still and let her work her magic.
Once the straightening was done, she applied another cream – this time it’s called a neutralizer. She said this is to set the hair in its new straight form. That stayed on for another 20 minutes or so. Then, another wash, another blow-dry, and voila!
Final Steps
- Washing: They washed my hair one last time.
- Conditioning: Applied a deep conditioner.
- Drying: A final blow-dry.
I looked in the mirror, and wow, my hair was straight! Like, really straight and smooth. It felt so different, in a good way. She gave me some tips on how to take care of it – like not washing it for a couple of days and using certain shampoos and conditioners. So now, my hair looks totally different. It’s super straight and shiny. It feels a lot lighter and it’s way easier to manage in the mornings. I just hope it stays this way for a long time. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a big change, but I’m loving it so far!
