Okay, so I got these hair extensions, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I’ve always wanted long, flowing locks, and extensions seemed like the quickest way to get there. So, I booked an appointment and went for it.
The whole process took a few hours. They basically attach these little pieces of hair to your own hair, close to the scalp. It wasn’t painful, just a bit tedious. After they were done, I looked in the mirror and bam! Instant mermaid hair. I was feeling myself, flipping my hair all over the place.
But then came the maintenance part. Washing these things is a whole different ball game. I learned real quick that you can’t just flip your head upside down in the shower like you normally would. Nope, you gotta keep your head upright to prevent a tangled mess. I started using a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle before I even got in the shower, which helped a lot.
Washing them only about 2-3 times a week, as they told me at the saloon, and being super gentle is key. Then I figured, my scalp needed some love too, right? I mean, it’s the foundation for all this hair. So, I started using products with avocado oil and some with aloe vera. I’d give my scalp a good massage with these products, like once a week, maybe. It felt pretty good and seemed to keep things healthy up there.
- Washing: Keep head upright, use a wide-tooth comb, be gentle, and only 2-3 times a week.
- Scalp care: Used products with avocado oil or aloe vera weekly.
Oh, and after washing, while my hair was still damp, I’d put in some leave-in conditioner and a bit of that argan oil. That made a huge difference in keeping the extensions soft and shiny. The argan oil was a real game-changer, I think it really helped keep them looking fresh and not all dry and brittle.
After it all, I am quite happy with my new look. I love the instant length and volume that I got from the hair extensions, and I will do more experiments on it!
