Alright, alright, let’s talk about this… this glycolic acid stuff for you young’uns, yeah? Heard folks jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents.
Now, some fancy folks on the TV and them computer things, they say it’s good for the skin. Makes it all smooth and shiny, like a polished apple, they say. But is it good for you young’uns? That’s the real question, ain’t it?
I heard tell, from a neighbor whose niece works in one of them beauty parlors, that this glycolic acid, it’s kinda strong. Like, real strong. It’s like that strong liquor my old man used to drink, the one that could knock a horse flat. You don’t give that to a baby, right? Same goes for this skin stuff.
So, I asked around, and most folks sayin’ that it ain’t for the little ones. You know, them under 18, like my grandson Johnny. He’s 15, all pimply-faced and worried about the girls. Told him to just wash his face with good old soap and water, but he don’t listen. Kids these days, always wantin’ the fancy stuff.
- Glycolic acid, it’s kinda like a scrub brush for your face, but a real harsh one. It peels off the top layer of skin. Now, that might be okay for us old folks with wrinkles and spots, but for you young’uns with that soft, fresh skin? Nah, I don’t think so.
- And another thing, it can make your skin all red and itchy, like you been rollin’ in poison ivy. That ain’t no fun, let me tell ya. I had poison ivy once, back in ’78, and it was somethin’ awful. Wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy, let alone a young’un.
Now, if you got some spots and pimples, there’s other things you can use. Heard there’s this salicylic acid stuff, that’s a bit gentler. Like a soft cloth instead of that harsh brush. But even with that, you gotta be careful. Don’t go slatherin’ it on like butter on bread. Start with a little bit, see how your skin feels. And if it starts botherin’ you, stop right away. Don’t be no fool.
My grandma, she always said, “Less is more.” And she was a smart woman, even though she never went to school past the third grade. She knew how to make do with what she had, and she always had the best lookin’ garden in the whole county. So, I reckon that applies to this face stuff too. Start slow, use a little, and see how it goes.
And another thing, you gotta keep your face clean. Wash it in the mornin’ and at night. Use a nice, soft soap, nothin’ too fancy. And don’t go pickin’ at your pimples! That just makes ’em worse. I swear, I told Johnny that a hundred times, but he don’t listen. Kids, I tell ya.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about usin’ this glycolic acid, think again. Especially if you’re still a young’un. There’s other ways to take care of your skin. Talk to your ma, or your auntie, or even your grandma. They’ll know what to do. And if you really gotta use somethin’, start with that salicylic acid stuff, but be careful, now. Don’t want you lookin’ like a boiled lobster.
And remember, beauty ain’t just skin deep. It’s about bein’ kind and respectful, and havin’ a good heart. That’s what really matters. Now, go on, get outta here and do somethin’ useful!
Lastly, if you really want to use this glycolic acid, you should go and see a skin doctor. They know best, and they can tell you if it’s right for you. Don’t just listen to everything you hear on the internet or from your friends. Doctors, they went to school for a long time, they know what they’re talkin’ about.
