You know, it’s that time of the year again, with all the festivals coming up. Sounds exciting, right? But honestly, it’s been making me feel more anxious than jolly.
So, I started looking into this whole “festival anxiety” thing and found out it’s actually pretty common. Lots of folks feel overwhelmed with all the hustle and bustle. I tried a few things to tackle this, and they actually helped!
My Little Experiment
- The 3-3-3 Rule: I gave this a shot when I felt the anxiety creeping in. Basically, I stopped what I was doing, looked around, and named three things I could see. Then, I listened for three distinct sounds. After that, I moved three different parts of my body, like my ankle, fingers, and arm. It sounds simple, but it really helped me ground myself.
- Clearing My Mind: I tried to empty my mind. Just let the thoughts go for about 30 seconds. If an anxious thought popped back in, I’d mentally shout “Stop!” It was tough at first, but it got easier.
- Getting Physical: I found that sometimes, just getting up and moving around helped a lot. I went for a walk, did some light yoga. Nothing too intense, just enough to shift my focus from my anxious thoughts to my body.
I also tried to be mindful of my feelings, acknowledging that it’s okay to feel anxious. I stopped expecting myself to be super excited all the time. I started preparing for events in advance, which gave me a sense of control and made things less stressful.
It’s not perfect, and I still get anxious sometimes. But these little tricks made a real difference. It’s like, I’m learning to manage the anxiety instead of it managing me. Sharing this because maybe it can help someone else too. Festivals are supposed to be fun, and it’s okay to take steps to make them enjoyable for yourself.
