Well, let me tell ya, this whole electrolysis thing, it ain’t been no picnic for my skin, not one bit. I went and did it, ya know, to get rid of that pesky hair on my chinny-chin-chin. Heard it was the best thing since sliced bread, but let me tell ya, my bread’s been lookin’ mighty moldy since.
First off, that there lady, the one stickin’ the needles in me, she seemed nice enough. But lordy, my face afterwards, it looked like a beet! Red and swollen, just like they said it might be. But they didn’t say nothin’ about it lookin’ like that for days on end! And itchy? Don’t even get me started. I was scratchin’ like a dog with fleas.
They say it don’t leave no scars, them electrolysis folks. Said it’s just little bitty lesions, whatever them things are. But I swear, I got some dents in my face now, little pits like somethin’ dug ‘em out. They say it’s ‘cause stuff gets in them empty hair holes when your skin’s tryin’ to heal up. Well, whatever it is, it ain’t pretty. My skin is all bumpy now, it ain’t smooth like it used to be.
- Redness: My face looked like a tomato for a week.
- Swelling: Puffed up like a toad, I was.
- Itching: Lord, the itching was enough to drive a body mad.
- Pitting: Got these little dents all over now, like someone took a tiny hammer to my face.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s all bad. The hair, yeah, that’s mostly gone. But was it worth it? I ain’t so sure. I look in the mirror now and I see them little pits, them bumps, and I just sigh. I reckon I shoulda just stuck with pluckin’ it out with tweezers, like I always did. Took longer, sure, but at least I didn’t look like I got attacked by a swarm of angry bees.
They tell ya to find a good electrologist, someone who knows what they’re doin’. Said that’s the most important thing. Well, I thought I did. Asked around, ya know, went to the lady everyone was talkin’ about. But maybe she wasn’t all that good after all. Or maybe it’s just my skin, maybe it’s just more sensitive than most. I don’t know. All I know is, I ain’t happy with how it turned out.
They stick that little needle in, right where the hair grows. Zap it with some electric current, they say. Kill the hair right at the root. Sounds simple enough, don’t it? But it ain’t. It’s like they’re pokin’ holes in your face, hundreds of ‘em. And your skin, well, it don’t take kindly to bein’ poked at like that.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ electrolysis, you best think long and hard about it. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. And make sure you find someone who really knows what they’re doin’. Don’t just go to the first person you find. Ask around, do your research. ‘Cause if you end up with skin like mine, you’ll be wishin’ you’d just left that hair alone. I tell you what, this whole thing has been a real pain. And not just the pain from the needles, but the pain of lookin’ in the mirror and not likin’ what you see. It’s been a tough lesson to learn, that’s for sure. You think you’re doin’ somethin’ to make yourself look better, and it ends up makin’ things worse. Just goes to show, sometimes it’s best to just leave well enough alone.
Electrolysis for hair removal they call it. Hmph, more like electrolysis for skin ruin if you ask me. Maybe for some folks it works wonders, but for this old gal, it’s been nothin’ but trouble. So, I’m just here to tell you my story, and you can take it for what it’s worth. Just don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
And another thing, they said it might be a little bit sore, but “a little bit” to them city folk is a whole lot of hurtin’ to me. I couldn’t even sleep on my side for a week, had to lie flat on my back like I was in a coffin. It was miserable. Just plain miserable.
Now, I gotta go put some of that fancy cream on my face, hoping it’ll help with the bumps and the redness. Cost me an arm and a leg, that cream did. But if it makes my skin look even a little bit better, it’ll be worth it. I just want my old face back, the one I had before I went and messed it all up with this electrolysis nonsense.
