Oh, honey, let me tell you, neck pains while pregnant, it’s a real bother. My neck feels like it’s carrying a sack of potatoes all day long. Feels like all tied up in knots, you know? Ain’t nothin’ worse than a stiff neck when you’re already carrying a little one.
When I was pregnant with my first, the neck pain during pregnancy was so bad. I could barely turn my head. This here baby’s makin’ my neck ache somethin’ fierce. Like an old rusty gate, creakin’ and groanin’ every time I move. This is why pregnancy neck pain relief is needed.
Doc says it’s ’cause of the extra weight. Says the little one’s puttin’ pressure on everything. Well, that’s just great, ain’t it? Like I needed another thing to ache. He told me to try some stretches. Said it might help with the neck and shoulder pain pregnancy thing. He says the stretches help the blood move around better. Less achy muscles that way. I don’t know about all that. Seems like a lot of work for an old gal like me.
He showed me this one where you gotta put your chin to your chest. Hold it there for a bit. Then you gotta look up at the ceiling. Up and down, up and down. Makes me dizzy, I tell ya. I tried it. Just ain’t natural bendin’ your neck like that, now is it? That is one of the common pregnancy neck pain exercises. I suppose it loosens things up. Like oiling an old door hinge, maybe.
- He said to do it a few times.
- Then you gotta tilt your head to the side.
- Like you’re tryin’ to touch your ear to your shoulder.
I could do this one, neck pain during pregnancy is not a good thing. That is part of the exercises for neck pain during pregnancy. Hold it there for a few seconds, he says. Then do the other side. Back and forth, back and forth. This one ain’t so bad. At least I ain’t gotta look at the ceiling.
He also told me to stand by a door. Said to bend my leg closest to the wall, a little bit forward. Said it helps with the tension in your chest. He told me that if my chest is not so tight, my back is good. And then my neck don’t hurt so much. Makes sense, I guess. Everything’s connected, ain’t it? If I do this pregnancy neck pain exercise, then I will be good.
It’s all about keepin’ them muscles loose, he says. Like a well-worn pair of shoes, I reckon. Gotta keep ’em stretched out so they don’t get all stiff and achy. That is the key to get pregnancy neck pain relief. I reckon I can do that, maybe it can help my neck pain during pregnancy.
He also says to watch how I’m sleepin’. Says I should be usin’ a good pillow. One that supports my neck. I got this old feather pillow. Been usin’ it for years. It’s all flat and lumpy now. Maybe I need a new one. He says a good pillow can make a big difference. Keeps your neck from gettin’ all twisted up while you sleep. If I have a good pillow, then my neck and shoulder pain pregnancy will be better.
And he says to watch my posture. Says I shouldn’t be slouchin’. Easier said than done, I tell ya. When you’re carryin’ this much extra weight, it’s hard to stand up straight. But he says it’s important. Says it helps keep your spine aligned. And that takes the pressure off your neck. I need to stand straight, so I don’t feel the neck pain during pregnancy.
Another thing he mentioned was heat. Said a warm compress can help. Just a warm washcloth on the back of my neck. Feels good, I gotta admit. Like a little bit of sunshine on a sore spot. That is one of the ways to have pregnancy neck pain relief. The heat helps the muscles relax, he says. Makes ’em less tense.
He also said somethin’ about a massage. Now that sounds nice, don’t it? Someone rubbin’ all the kinks outta your neck. But who’s gonna do that? My old man ain’t got the hands for it. And I ain’t got the money to pay for one of them fancy spas. But a good massage will help my neck and shoulder pain pregnancy.
So, there you have it. Just a few things I learned about dealin’ with neck pains while pregnant. Ain’t no easy fix, that’s for sure. Just gotta keep tryin’ different things. See what works. And hope for the best. ‘Cause this little one ain’t gettin’ any lighter, that’s for sure. The stretches and the heat, the pillow and the posture. Maybe they’ll all add up to somethin’. Maybe I’ll finally get some relief. One can only hope, right? And hopefully, I can get some pregnancy neck pain relief. And these pregnancy neck pain exercises will be helpful.
