Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this whole thing about whether probiotics can mess with your period, like, can they make it shorter? I read a bunch of stuff online and decided, “Why not just try it out myself?” So, here’s how it went down.
First off, I started taking a probiotic supplement every day. I just picked one up from the local health store, nothing fancy. I made sure to take it with my breakfast, figuring that was a good way to remember it. At the same time, I started to drink more water. I know I never drink enough water, so I just tried to keep a bottle with me all the time and just chugged as much as I could.
- Day 1-3: Nothing really happened. I mean, my period started as usual, and it was the same old heavy flow I’m used to. I did feel a bit bloated, which I guess is normal when you start probiotics, but it wasn’t too bad.
- Day 4-5: This is where it got interesting. Usually, my period lasts a solid 5-7 days, but by day 5, it was way lighter than normal. It was like, almost done. I couldn’t believe it.
- Day 6: And… it was gone! Just like that. Six days, which is definitely shorter than my usual cycle.
Now, I’m not saying this is some miracle cure, and I’m definitely not a doctor. But, in my little experiment, it seemed like the probiotics, maybe combined with drinking more water, actually did shorten my period. Or maybe it was just a coincidence? It’s hard to say for sure.
I kept taking the probiotics for a couple more weeks, just to see what would happen. My stomach felt pretty good, maybe a bit less gassy than usual. But then, my next period came around, and guess what? It was back to its normal, longer self. So, maybe the first time was just a fluke.
I also tried to eat more yogurt and other foods that are supposed to have probiotics. I don’t know if they helped or not, but they didn’t hurt! Anyway, I think I am going to keep using probiotics.
Final Thoughts
It’s all kind of a mystery, really. Maybe probiotics can shorten your period, maybe they can’t. My experience was a bit of a mixed bag. I’m gonna keep paying attention to my body and see what happens next month. If you’re thinking about trying probiotics, I’d say go for it, but don’t expect any miracles. And, you know, talk to your doctor if you’re really worried about your period or anything. It is more important.
I’ll keep you guys posted if anything else changes. This whole period thing is a journey, right?
