Alright, so I’ve been thinking about this whole facial hair thing, and I decided to give waxing a shot. Yeah, you heard that right, waxing my face. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t that a bit extreme?” Maybe, but shaving just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I wanted something that would last longer, you know?
Preparation is Key
First things first, I did a bit of research. I found out that you gotta prepare your skin before you go slathering on the wax.
- I started by washing my face with some gentle cleanser.
- Then, I exfoliated to get rid of any dead skin cells that could mess things up.
- Make my face dry.
- I also read that you should avoid certain products before waxing, like alcohol-based toners, because they can irritate your skin.
Choosing the Wax
Next up, I had to decide what kind of wax to use. There are a bunch of options out there, like readymade strips, hot wax, cold wax. It’s kinda overwhelming, honestly. I ended up going with readymade strips because they seemed the easiest for a newbie like me. I found some at the drugstore, from a brand I recognized, so I figured they’d be okay.
The Moment of Truth
Okay, so here’s where things got real. I heated up the wax strips according to the instructions on the box. Then, I took a deep breath and applied one to my upper lip. Pressed it down firmly, made sure it was really stuck on there. Then, the moment of truth. I gripped the end of the strip and, in one swift motion, ripped it off.
Let me tell you, it hurt. Like, a lot. But it was also kinda satisfying, in a weird way. I repeated the process on my chin and cheeks, one strip at a time. Each time, I braced myself for the pain, but it never really got any easier.
Aftermath and Results
After I was done, my face was definitely red and a bit sensitive. I applied some soothing lotion that came with the wax kit, which helped a little. It took a few hours for the redness to go down completely. But once it did, I gotta say, I was impressed. My skin was smooth, like, really smooth. No stubble, no shadow, nothing. I finally achieved the clean look.
It’s been a couple of weeks now, and my skin is still pretty smooth. There’s a little bit of regrowth, but nothing like what I was dealing with when I was shaving every day. So far, I’m pretty happy with the results. Waxing is definitely more painful and expensive than shaving, but for me, the longer-lasting smoothness is worth it.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep waxing forever, but for now, it’s working for me. If you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared for the pain, and make sure you do your research beforehand. It’s not for everyone, but it might just be the solution you’ve been looking for.
