Yesterday, I felt a bit off, like my ears were clogged up. I didn’t think much of it at first, just figured it was some wax or something. But then, as the day went on, it started to hurt, not a ton, but enough to be annoying.
I tried to clean my ears with a cotton swab, thinking maybe that would help. It didn’t. If anything, it felt a bit worse. I remembered reading somewhere that you’re not really supposed to use those things anyway, but what else was I going to do?
Then it hit me: could this be from the AC? I mean, we’ve been blasting it a lot recently because, well, it’s been hot as heck outside. I started to notice that the AC unit in my living room was making a lot of noise, and it made me start to think about it. So I did what any normal person would do – I started Googling.
Turns out, there are some talks about AC units and ear infections. I found some stuff about centralized air conditioning and how it can spread infections. Makes sense, I guess, if the air’s just being circulated around with all the germs and stuff.
Then I found another article that talked about mold growing in AC units. That sounded pretty gross. The article said that if mold gets into your home from the AC, it can cause things like throat irritation and wheezing. Luckily, I haven’t had any of that, but still, the thought of mold spores floating around is not exactly pleasant.
What I Did About It
- First, I turned down the AC. I figured it couldn’t hurt to give my ears, and my house, a break from the constant cold air.
- Next, I cleaned the air filters. They were pretty dusty, which probably wasn’t helping the situation.
- I also opened up the windows for a bit to let some fresh air in. It was a little warm, but it felt good to get some non-AC air flowing through the house.
- Finally, I made a mental note to get the AC unit properly checked. If there’s mold or something in there, I definitely want to get it taken care of.
As for my ear, it’s still a bit sore today, but it does feel a little better. I’m going to keep an eye on it, and if it doesn’t improve, I’ll probably go see a doctor. But for now, I’m just hoping it was a temporary thing caused by the AC, and that it’ll clear up on its own.
So, there you have it, folks. My little adventure with a possible AC-induced ear problem. Hopefully, this helps someone out there. Stay cool, but maybe not too cool, you know?
