So, today I messed around in the kitchen to figure out the calories in a simple breakfast of 2 eggs and toast. I gotta say, it was more interesting than I expected.
First off, I grabbed two eggs from the fridge. Now, cooking them was the next step. I decided to fry them sunny-side up because, why not? I used a tiny bit of oil in the pan – gotta watch those extra calories, you know? While the eggs were sizzling, I threw two slices of bread into the toaster. Just regular white bread, nothing fancy.
After the eggs were done to my liking and the toast popped up, I plated them up. Looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. Now, for the numbers part. I did a bit of digging and found out some interesting stuff.
- Eggs: Apparently, two large eggs fried up like mine come out to around 156-180 calories. That’s with a bit of oil, mind you.
- Toast: Two slices of regular toast are roughly around 140 calories. Depends on the bread, but that’s a good ballpark.
So, adding it all up, my breakfast of two fried eggs and two slices of toast came out to somewhere between 300 and 320 calories. Not too shabby for a filling meal, right?
I also stumbled upon some info about how the way you cook your eggs or what you add to your toast can change the calorie count. Like, if you add a slab of butter to your toast, boom, extra calories. Or if you go for scrambled eggs with milk and cheese, that’s a whole different story.
Then there’s the whole protein and fullness thing. I read that a breakfast of eggs and toast can keep you feeling full longer. In some study, people who ate eggs and toast for breakfast felt less hungry later on compared to those who had cereal. It’s all about that protein, around 25 grams in this case, versus the 11 grams in the cereal breakfast.
And just for kicks, I looked up some other breakfast combos. Did you know that a two-egg breakfast at Denny’s can rack up to 825 calories? Or that a classic breakfast with two eggs at Eggsmart is about 620 calories? Crazy how it varies, right?
Anyway, that’s my little breakfast experiment. It’s pretty cool to see how a simple meal’s calories are figured out. Makes you think twice about what you’re eating, in a good way!
Keep It Simple
At the end of the day, I realized that keeping it simple with 2 eggs and toast is not just easy on the taste buds but also pretty decent calorie-wise. Plus, it’s a good way to start the day feeling satisfied without overdoing it. Who knew breakfast could be this interesting?
