My hair, it used to smell like, you know, just hair. Not bad, not good, just there. But I wanted it to smell pretty, like them flowers in my garden. So I tried a bunch of things, some worked, some didn’t. Here’s the lowdown on how to make hair fragrance, the way I see it.
Smelly Good Stuff
First thing I tried was them fancy oils. You know, the ones they sell down at the market?
- Rosemary oil, they said it’s good for your hair.
- Lavender oil, smells like sleep, they told me.
- Jasmine oil, that’s a strong one, like a summer night.
I put a couple drops in my hand, rubbed ’em together, and then ran my hands through my hair. It did smell nice, for a while. But that oil, it made my hair greasy. Like I hadn’t washed it in a week! So, that wasn’t the best, even though the smell, that rosemary and lavender, it was nice at first.
Perfume for Hair?
Then, I saw these young’uns with their fancy sprays. “Hair perfume,” they called it. Well, I thought, why not? I got myself a bottle, smelled like roses, this one. I sprayed it on my brush, like they showed me, and brushed my hair.
It was okay. Smelled good, not too strong. But it didn’t last long. And that stuff is expensive! For something that goes away so quick, it ain’t worth it, I say. Still, if you got the money, hair perfume is one way to go, I guess. It is better than hair smelling bad.
Vinegar? You Serious?
Now, this one, I thought it was a joke. Vinegar! The stuff you use for pickles! But they said it works. They said mix it with water, one part vinegar to four parts water. After you wash your hair, you pour this mix all over your head. Don’t rinse it out, just let your hair dry like that.
I was scared. Vinegar smells strong! But I tried it. And you know what? It worked! My hair didn’t smell like vinegar, not really. It just smelled… clean. And shiny, too! Like when I was a young girl. Vinegar for hair, who would have thought? But it worked to make my hair smell not bad, and feel soft. It is cheap too!
Other Things I Tried about hair fragrance
I tried a few other things, too.
- Lemon juice – made my hair sticky.
- Baking soda – dried it out, made it feel like straw.
- Honey – a sticky mess, don’t even try it! It made my hair super hard to wash.
None of them worked as good as the vinegar. Or even the fragrant oil, if you don’t mind a little greasy. If you don’t have money, you can try to use fragrant oil to make your hair smell good, but just a little, and wash your hair more often.
My Two Cents about how to make hair fragrance
So, here’s what I learned about how to make hair fragrance. You can use them fancy oils, but watch out for the greasy. You can use that hair perfume, if you have money to burn. But the best thing, the cheapest and the easiest, is that vinegar trick. It is good for hair fragrance.
Just remember to mix it with water, or it will be too strong. And don’t worry, your hair won’t smell like pickles, trust me. It will just smell clean, and that’s a good smell, any day. And your hair will be shiny, too. So you can smell good and look good, too. That is the most important thing, right?
So, that’s my advice. Try these things, see what works for you. Every head of hair is different. But don’t be afraid to try new things, even if they sound a little crazy. You might be surprised what works! Just like I was with that vinegar. Who knew?
And if all else fails, just wash your hair more often. A clean head of hair is a good-smelling head of hair, most of the time. Unless you’ve been working in the garden all day, then maybe you need something a little stronger. But that’s a story for another day. Now I’m going to make myself a cup of tea, and enjoy my nice-smelling, shiny hair.
