This old lady me, I don’t know much about them fancy things, but I sure know a thing or two about sitting down and resting my weary legs. And let me tell you, this gym bench with leg extension, it’s something else. I saw it at my neighbor’s house the other day, and I thought, “Well, ain’t that a contraption!”
Gym Bench Is Good
My neighbor, bless her heart, she’s always trying to get me to do them exercises. Says it’s good for the bones. I tell her, “Honey, these bones have done enough work in their time.” But this bench, it got me thinking. It’s like a chair, you see, but it’s got this thing on the end where you can put your legs. And you can lift them up and down, like you’re shooing flies or something. I tried it out, and it felt kind of nice, stretching out the old legs like that.
They call it a leg extension. I don’t know about all that fancy talk, but I know what feels good. And sitting on that bench, lifting my legs up and down, it felt pretty darn good. It’s like when you’ve been working in the garden all day, and you finally get to sit down and put your feet up. Only this is even better, ’cause you’re doing something good for your legs at the same time. Smart, ain’t it?

My neighbor, she’s got all sorts of these exercise things. She’s got these weights, you know, the heavy things you lift. And she’s got this thing you ride like a bicycle, but it don’t go nowhere. This gym bench with leg extension, though, this is the one that caught my eye. I mean, I ain’t gonna be running no marathons, but I can sit and lift my legs. That I can do. She says there’s different kinds of these benches. Some of them, you can lie down flat on them. Some of them, you can tilt them up or down. This one, it just stays put, but you can move that leg thing up and down. She says it’s called “adjustable.” I don’t know about all that, but it sounds mighty complicated for just sitting and lifting your legs. It’s a good utility bench.
My old legs, they ain’t what they used to be. I used to be able to walk for miles, you know. Up and down the hills, through the fields, chasing after them chickens. Now, I get tired just walking to the mailbox. But sitting on that bench, lifting my legs, it made them feel kind of strong again. Like they still had some life in them. Like I’m doing good weight bench.
I asked my neighbor how much one of these things costs. She said it depends on which one you get. Some of them are more expensive than others. I reckon that makes sense. Some of them probably got more bells and whistles. This one, it seemed pretty simple. Just a bench and that leg thing. That is a good utility bench with leg extension for me.
I told her I might just have to get me one of these gym benches with leg extension. She smiled and said she thought that was a great idea. She said it would be good for me. And you know what? I think she’s right. It might be nice to have something to sit on and make my legs feel better. And who knows, maybe I’ll even start doing some of them other exercises she’s always talking about.
I remember back in the day, we didn’t have none of these fancy exercise machines. We got our exercise from working hard. We walked everywhere. We carried heavy things. We worked in the fields. We didn’t need no special bench to lift our legs. We lifted them all day long, just living our lives. You can do many exercise.
But things are different now. We don’t work as hard as we used to, at least not in the same way. We sit more. We drive more. We don’t move our bodies as much. So maybe these exercise things, they ain’t so bad after all. Maybe they’re a way to make up for the way we live now. And to make sure we can enjoy more fitness day.
This gym bench with leg extension, it got me thinking. Maybe I should pay more attention to my old body. Maybe I should try to keep it moving, even if it’s just sitting and lifting my legs. It’s better than nothing, right? And it might even make me feel a little bit better. A little bit stronger. A little bit more like my old self.
I think I’m gonna do it. I think I’m gonna get me one of those benches. I’m gonna sit on it every day, and I’m gonna lift my legs up and down. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll feel like I can walk for miles again. Maybe I’ll even chase after them chickens one more time. You never know, do you? You just never know.
