Alright, let’s gab about this olive oil and that pomace stuff, you know, the stuff they squeeze outta olives. I ain’t no fancy cook or nothin’, but I know a thing or two about what goes on in the kitchen, and what’s good for ya.
First off, you got this olive oil. The real good stuff, they call it “virgin” or “extra virgin.” Sounds fancy, huh? Well, it’s supposed to be the best for ya. They say it’s got all sorts of good things in it, like them… them… fatty acids, yeah, that’s it. And these things called anti-somethin’s… anti-oxy… yeah, those too. Keeps your heart ticking, they say. This here good oil, it’s from the first squish of the olives, that’s why it costs a pretty penny. Smells nice and strong too, like olives should.
Now, then there’s this other stuff, olive pomace oil. It’s made from the leftovers, after they squeeze the good stuff out. Don’t go wrinklin’ your nose just yet! It ain’t as bad as it sounds. They gotta use some kinda… uh… stuff to get the last bit of oil outta them olive leftovers, but it still got some of them good fatty acids. Not as much as the good stuff, mind you, and it don’t smell as strong neither. But it’s cheaper, way cheaper.
So, what’s the difference, you ask? Well, the good olive oil, that extra virgin stuff, that’s like the top-shelf liquor. Fancy and good for ya, but expensive. You use it when you want things to taste real good, you know, for dippin’ bread or makin’ a nice salad. The pomace oil, that’s more like the everyday stuff. It gets the job done, and it don’t break the bank. You can use it for fryin’ stuff or bakin’. It ain’t gonna taste as strong, but it’ll do.
- Good Olive Oil (Extra Virgin)
- First squish of the olives
- Lots of good fatty acids and anti-somethin’s
- Smells strong and tastes good
- Expensive
- Best for dippin’ and salads
- Pomace Oil
- Made from the leftovers
- Still got some good fatty acids
- Don’t smell as strong
- Cheap
- Good for fryin’ and bakin’
They say both of ‘em are good for your heart, keepin’ it pumpin’ like it should. The good oil, it’s got more of them special things that fight off… well, bad stuff in your body, I guess. But the pomace oil, it’s still better than some of that other junk they sell, you know, the stuff made from… from who knows what. At least this here pomace stuff, it comes from olives.
Look, I ain’t no doctor, but I know what tastes good and what don’t make my stomach hurt. If you got the money, go for the good olive oil, that extra virgin stuff. It’s the best. But if you’re on a budget, like most of us, that pomace oil will do just fine. Don’t let nobody tell you it ain’t good for ya just ‘cause it’s cheaper. It’s still olives, and olives are good for ya. That’s what I always say.
And remember, eatin’ good ain’t just about fancy oils and such. It’s about eatin’ real food, stuff that comes from the ground, not from some factory. Fruits, vegetables, good meat if you can get it… that’s what keeps you goin’. And a little bit of olive oil, good or pomace, it don’t hurt none neither.
So, there you have it. My two cents on olive oil and pomace oil. Take it or leave it, I don’t care. Just tryin’ to help you folks eat a little better, that’s all.
