Okay, so I heard about this thing with aspirin and hair growth, and I thought, why not give it a shot? My hair’s been thinning a bit, and I’m always up for trying something new, especially if it’s simple and cheap. I mean, who wouldn’t want thicker hair, right?
So, I started by doing a bit of digging online. It turns out that aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid as the science folks call it, might help with hair growth because it can reduce inflammation on the scalp. Some people even mentioned that it could deal with scalp infections that mess with hair growth. I found some info saying that inflammation can stop hair from growing and even make hair loss worse. So, the idea is that by calming down the scalp, aspirin could help hair grow better.
I read up a bit more and discovered that there’s some talk about DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) and how reducing it might help with hair loss. Aspirin seems to have some indirect connection to this as well. Sounds a bit complicated, but it made me even more curious.
Then, I stumbled upon something else. There’s this popular hair loss treatment called Rogaine (or Minoxidil), and it looks like using aspirin at the same time might not be a good idea. Apparently, aspirin might mess with how Rogaine works. I decided I’d have to be careful about that since I don’t use Rogaine anyway.
How I Did It
First, I grabbed a few aspirin tablets from my medicine cabinet. You need to make them into a powder, which sounds harder than it is. I just put them in a plastic bag and smashed them up with a spoon. You could use a fancy pill crusher, but who needs that? The back of a spoon works just fine.
Then, I mixed the aspirin powder with my regular shampoo. You can also use it as a hair mask, but I figured the shampoo would be easier. I just added the powder to a dollop of shampoo in my hand, mixed it around a bit, and then washed my hair like usual. It felt a bit gritty, but nothing too crazy.
I did this a couple of times a week for a few weeks. I didn’t expect to see results overnight, but I was hopeful. After a few uses, I did notice that my scalp felt a bit… cleaner, I guess? Less itchy, for sure. As for actual hair growth, it’s hard to say if there’s a huge difference yet. I think I see a few new baby hairs, but it could just be wishful thinking. I took a photo before I started and will continue to take photos each month to compare.
- Crush aspirin tablets into powder.
- Mix with shampoo or use as a hair mask.
- Apply to hair and scalp.
- Wait for a few weeks to see if there’s any change.
Overall, it’s been an interesting experiment. I can’t say for sure if aspirin is the miracle cure for hair loss, but it’s definitely something to consider if you’re looking for a simple and affordable way to potentially boost your hair growth. Just remember to be patient and don’t expect to turn into Rapunzel overnight! Also, if you’re using other hair loss treatments like Rogaine, it’s probably a good idea to do some extra research or talk to a doctor before mixing things up.
If you’ve tried this yourself, I’d love to hear about your experience! Let’s share our hair growth stories and see if this aspirin trick really works.
