Alright, alright, let’s talk about this hair stuff, this… asian hair care products thing, right? My old brain ain’t got much fancy book learnin’, but I know a thing or two about hair, seein’ as I been washin’ and combinit’ for, well, a good long while now.
First off, they say brushin’ is important. Yeah, I guess so. My ma always said, “Brush that hair, girl, get the tangles out!” So, I did. Morning and night, they say? Sure, why not. But gentle like, you hear? Don’t go yankin’ it all out! And rub your head while you’re at it, they say it helps the hair grow. Maybe it does, maybe it don’t. But it feels nice, so I do it.
- Brush nice and gentle, morning and night.
- Rub your head, get the blood flowin’.
Now, this hair breakin’… that’s a problem, ain’t it? My hair, it used to be strong, like a horse’s tail. But time does things to ya, you know? So, they say you gotta use stuff to keep it from breakin’. Moisturizin’ stuff, they call it. Sounds fancy, but I guess it just means stuff that keeps your hair from gettin’ all dry and brittle.
They got these shampoos and conditioners… gotta watch out for that “sulfate” stuff, they say. No idea what it is, but if they say it’s bad, I ain’t gonna use it. So, I look for the bottles that say “no sulfates.” And then there’s the conditioners… gotta get the thick, creamy kind, the ones that make your hair feel all soft and smooth. Like butter, almost.
And them hair masks… oh, them things are somethin’ else. Like puttin’ a big ol’ glob of somethin’ good on your hair and lettin’ it sit for a while. They got all kinds, but the ones with them oils… argan oil, coconut oil… them’s the good ones, I reckon. Make your hair all shiny and strong.
Natural stuff… that’s what I like. My grandma, she used to put all kinds of weird stuff on her hair. Seaweed, she did! Powdered it up and mixed it with water. Said it made her hair grow. And that camellia oil, the tsubaki oil they call it… Grandma swore by it. Said it was the secret to long, shiny hair. And wouldn’t you know it, them fancy folks in Japan, they still use it!
So, you see, it ain’t so complicated. Just gotta keep your hair clean, keep it moist, and use good stuff on it. And what’s good stuff? Well, that’s the stuff that keeps your hair healthy and strong, the stuff that makes it shine. Like that camellia oil. Them Japanese women, they know a thing or two about hair, that’s for sure.
I remember my grandma, she always said healthy hair starts from the inside. Eat good, sleep good, and your hair will be good too. Made sense to me. You can’t expect your hair to look good if you ain’t takin’ care of yourself, right?
And don’t go washin’ your hair too much! That ain’t good. Strips all the good oils out, they say. Once or twice a week, that’s enough. Unless you been workin’ in the fields all day, then maybe you gotta wash it more. But mostly, just let it be. Hair needs a little bit of its own oils to stay healthy.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this asian hair care products thing. Brush it gentle, keep it moist, use good stuff, eat good, sleep good. That’s all there is to it. Nothin’ fancy, just good old common sense. And if them Japanese ladies are usin’ camellia oil, well, maybe we should too. They seem to know what they’re doin’.
And one more thing, don’t go chasin’ after every newfangled product that comes along. Stick to what works. Stick to what’s natural. That’s what my grandma always said, and she had the prettiest hair I ever did see. Long and black and shiny, like a raven’s wing. So, yeah, that’s what I do. And my hair, well, it ain’t so bad for an old lady, if I do say so myself.
Hair care ain’t rocket science, you know. Just gotta listen to your hair, listen to what it needs. And maybe, just maybe, listen to your old grandma, too. She probably knows a thing or two about keepin’ things lookin’ good.
