Hey everyone, today I want to talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – it’s this stuff called amla, reetha, and shikakai powder. Yeah, the names are a mouthful, I know!
So, I got curious about natural hair care and all that jazz, and these three kept popping up. Apparently, they’re like the holy trinity of hair care in Ayurvedic medicine, which is some ancient Indian stuff. They say it’s been used for centuries to keep hair healthy and strong, and help it grow. I was like, “Okay, let’s see what the hype is about.”
Getting My Hands Dirty
First off, I had to get my hands on these powders. I found some dried amla, reetha, and shikakai. I decided to try making my own shampoo with these. I mean, why not, right? It’s all-natural, no weird chemicals, just these three ingredients that are supposed to be amazing for your hair.
I started by mixing the powders together. That’s it. No heat, no complicated processes, just mixing them in a bowl. I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but I was already feeling like a natural hair care guru, haha!
Washing My Hair
Next, it was time to actually use this concoction. I hopped in the shower, wet my hair, and started working the powder into my scalp. It felt a bit strange, kind of grainy, not like the smooth shampoos I’m used to. But you know what? My scalp felt really clean, like, squeaky clean. I heard that shikakai can really get rid of excess oil, and it sure felt like it did.
One thing I noticed, though, is that you gotta be careful not to get this stuff in your eyes. It stings! Apparently, there’s something in reetha called saponins that can irritate your eyes. Lesson learned there.
The Aftermath
After rinsing it all out, my hair felt different. It felt stronger, kind of thicker, maybe? I read somewhere that this mix can strengthen your hair from the roots, and I think I felt that. It’s hard to say after just one wash, but there was definitely a difference.
I did a bit more digging and found out that you’re not supposed to eat this stuff. I mean, you can eat raw amla, but the mix of all three powders is a no-go for eating. Apparently, it can cause some serious health problems. Good to know!
Some More Research
I also found out that some people can have a reaction to amla powder. Like, it can irritate their scalp because the powder is a bit rough. So, if you have a sensitive scalp, maybe be careful with this.
My Thoughts
Overall, I’m pretty intrigued by this amla, reetha, and shikakai powder. It’s definitely a different experience than using regular shampoo. It felt good to use something natural, and my hair did feel cleaner and stronger. I’ve read that it can even help with hair regrowth by improving blood circulation to your scalp. I’m going to keep using it and see what happens.
So, that’s my little adventure with these Ayurvedic hair powders. It’s been fun, a bit messy, and definitely educational. If you’re looking for a natural way to take care of your hair, you might want to give this a try. Just remember, don’t eat it, and watch out for your eyes!
