Today I felt like going for a swim, so I packed my bag and headed to the local pool.
Diving In
I got there, paid my entry, and jumped straight into the water. The water was cool, and I did a few laps, just enjoying the feel of the water. I didn’t use my goggles at the first day, and everything felt fine. I did a few more laps the next day and stayed a bit longer, but I didn’t feel anything strange.
Things Got Itchy
But then, by the third day, I really start to feel something strange. My eyes started to feel really itchy and irritated after I got out of the pool. They were red, a bit blurry, and just felt off. I’ve been swimming before, but this felt worse than usual. I figured it might be because I wasn’t wearing goggles the past couple of days. Or it might be the chlorine or something in the water.
Looking for a Solution
I first washed my eyes with a lot of tap water. Hoping it can wash away the chemicals. After that, I remembered reading something about eye drops being good after swimming. I went online and did a quick search. It seemed like lubricating eye drops were the way to go. They’re supposed to help soothe your eyes and reduce any inflammation.
Getting the Drops
So, I went to a nearby pharmacy. I saw a bunch of different eye drops, some said “Extra Strength,” others said “Maximum Strength.” I just grabbed one that said it was for lubricating and soothing irritated eyes. I think the one I got was a pretty basic one, nothing fancy.
Applying the Drops
Back home, I followed the instructions on the box. I washed my hands, tilted my head back, and put a couple of drops in each eye. It felt a bit weird at first, kind of like a cool rush, but then my eyes started to feel a lot better. They weren’t as itchy, and the redness seemed to go down a bit.
Resting Up
I decided to give my eyes a bit of a rest. I avoided reading or staring at my computer screen for a while. After about an hour or so, my eyes felt almost back to normal. I think those drops really did the trick.
- Lesson learned: always wear goggles when swimming.
- If your eyes get irritated, wash them with a lot of water first.
- Lubricating eye drops can really help.
- Give your eyes a rest after using the drops.
It seems I should keep some eye drops handy just in case. Swimming is fun, but irritated eyes definitely aren’t!
