Okay, so, I’ve been seeing all this stuff online about using flour for hair care, and I thought, why not give it a shot? I mean, I bake a lot, so I always have flour at home. It seemed a bit weird at first, but hey, I’m all for trying new things, especially when it comes to natural beauty hacks.
First things first, I needed to figure out what kind of flour to use. I found that there are many different kinds, like almond flour, coconut flour, whole-wheat flour, oat flour, rice flour, and even all-purpose flour. There are at least 60 kinds of flour! Each has its own pros and cons. After some digging, I decided to start with oat flour. It’s known for being gentle and good for soothing the scalp, which sounded perfect for my sometimes-sensitive skin.
Now, how do you actually use this stuff? I mixed about half a cup of oat flour with enough warm water to make a paste that wasn’t too runny or too thick. I wanted it to be easy to apply but not drip everywhere.
Next, I hopped into the shower and got my hair wet. Then, I applied the flour paste, starting from my roots and working it through to the ends. It felt a little strange, kind of like applying a face mask but on my hair. I massaged it into my scalp for a few minutes, just like I do with regular shampoo, to make sure it really got in there.
I let the mixture sit in my hair for about 5-10 minutes. While waiting, I just did my usual shower stuff. After the time was up, I rinsed my hair thoroughly with warm water, making sure to get all the flour out. I was worried it might leave some residue, but it rinsed out surprisingly well.
- Cleanliness: My hair felt surprisingly clean! It didn’t feel stripped or dry like it sometimes does with commercial shampoos.
- Softness: There was a noticeable softness to my hair. It felt more natural and less weighed down.
- Scalp health: My scalp felt calm and not itchy at all, which is a big plus for me.
Here’s what I observed after trying the oat flour wash:
Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this experiment. It’s a simple, cheap, and natural way to wash your hair. I think I’ll keep using oat flour as a once-in-a-while treatment, especially when my scalp feels irritated. It was fun to experiment with something new, and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re curious about natural hair care methods. I am still going to try almond flour, coconut flour, and rice flour later!
