Okay, so, I’ve been on this whole “gotta eat healthier” kick lately, and everyone keeps saying, “You gotta get more protein!” And I’m like, yeah, sure, but how? And of course, the answer is always eggs. Eggs, eggs, eggs. But here’s the thing – I really, really don’t like eggs. It’s a texture thing, a smell thing, a whole package deal of nope.
But I’m stubborn, and I’m trying to be healthy, so I decided I was gonna conquer this egg thing. I started with hard-boiled eggs because that’s what all the fitness people seem to eat. I even looked up how to boil them perfectly, so they wouldn’t be all gross and rubbery. I took some fresh eggs, put them in a saucepan, covered them with cool water, and even added a splash of vinegar, like the internet told me to. I boiled them and even followed the “let them sit in ice water” trick. But still when I tried them, they still had that weird sulfur smell and the texture was just…ugh.
Then I thought, “Maybe it’s just hard-boiled eggs I hate.” So, I tried scrambled. I whisked them up real good, added some milk, cooked them low and slow, but still…not a fan. They were too, I don’t know, eggy. I even tried adding a bunch of cheese and veggies, but I could still taste that underlying egginess, and it just wasn’t for me.
So, I did what any normal person would do – I went on a quest to find ways to hide the taste of eggs. I figured there had to be some recipes out there for people like me who want the protein but can’t stand the flavor.
My Egg-cellent Experiments
- Cheese Omelette: First, I tried a cheese omelette. I figured if I loaded it up with enough cheese, I wouldn’t be able to taste the egg. I used a ton of cheddar, and you know what? It wasn’t half bad! The cheese really did mask the egg flavor, and the texture was pretty good. I think I could make this work.
- Breakfast Burrito: Next, I attempted a breakfast burrito. I scrambled some eggs with a little cheese, then wrapped them up in a tortilla with some beans, salsa, and avocado. This was a winner! The other flavors were so strong that I barely noticed the eggs. Plus, it was super filling and kept me full all morning.
- Egg-in-a-Hole: This is kind of a fun one. I took a piece of bread, cut out a hole in the middle, and cracked an egg into it. Then, I cooked the whole thing in a pan. It’s pretty good! The bread gets all crispy, and the egg kind of just blends in. It’s like a fancy toast with a built-in egg.
So, yeah, it took some experimenting, but I think I’ve finally cracked the code on how to eat eggs when you hate eggs. It’s all about hiding them in other things! It turns out, that eggs are actually pretty good at sneaking into dishes without being too obvious. You just gotta get creative. And hey, I’m getting my protein, so that’s a win in my book.
