So, I’ve been dealing with some, uh, digestive issues lately, if you catch my drift. Yeah, constipation. It’s not fun, and I was desperate to find something that could, you know, get things moving. I read somewhere online that mashed potatoes might not be the best choice when you’re backed up. Something about them being low in fiber and high in fat. I decided to put it to the test, because, well, I really like mashed potatoes.
First, I whipped up a big batch of mashed potatoes. I used those instant ones, the kind that comes in a box. You just add water, butter, and milk. Super easy. They were pretty good, I must say. I mean, who doesn’t love a good bowl of creamy mashed potatoes? I ate a whole cup of them. Not exactly a scientific measurement, but it felt like a decent amount.
- Prepared the mashed potatoes from a box of granules.
- Added the recommended amount of water, butter, and milk.
- Mixed until smooth and creamy.
Day 1:
Felt full after eating the mashed potatoes. No immediate effect on the, uh, situation. Went about my day as usual. Still constipated.
Day 2:
No change. Still feeling bloated and uncomfortable. Starting to think this mashed potato experiment wasn’t such a great idea. Decided I should do a bit more research on this.
Day 3:
Okay, I did a little more digging. Turns out, it’s not just the low fiber content in mashed potatoes that can be a problem. It’s also the high fat and sodium, especially when you make them with lots of butter and salt like I did. The article I found said that one cup of mashed potatoes made from granules is not good for constipation.
Day 4:
Giving up on the mashed potato theory. Still no relief. Gonna try something else, maybe something with a bit more, shall we say, “roughage.” Decided to eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Drank more water, too.
Day 5:
Finally! Things are starting to move again. It seems like the high-fiber foods and extra water are doing the trick. Feeling much better now. Lesson learned: mashed potatoes might be delicious, but they’re not your friend when you’re constipated. Stick to the fruits, veggies, and whole grains, folks. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water!
So, there you have it. My little experiment with mashed potatoes and constipation. Not exactly a success story, but hey, at least I got to eat some tasty mashed potatoes in the process, right? Just remember, if you’re looking to get things moving, mashed potatoes are probably not your best bet.
