Okay, so I’ve been on this natural hair care kick lately, and I kept hearing about this magical mix of reetha, shikakai, and amla. Apparently, it’s like the holy grail for healthy hair, so, naturally, I had to try it out. I grabbed some powder online – super easy to find, by the way. The stuff arrived, and I was like, “Alright, let’s do this.”
First things first, I mixed the powders. I used roughly equal parts of each, but I’ve heard you can play around with the ratios. I just dumped them into a bowl, added some warm water, and mixed it into a paste. The consistency was kind of like mud, not gonna lie. It smelled earthy, which I didn’t mind, but it’s definitely not your typical fruity shampoo scent.
The Messy Part
Now, applying it was a whole other story. I hopped in the shower, got my hair soaking wet, and started scooping the paste onto my scalp. This is where things got messy. The paste doesn’t lather like regular shampoo, so it took some work to get it evenly distributed. I massaged it into my scalp, made sure to coat all my strands. It felt weird, honestly, kind of grainy.
I left it on for about 15-20 minutes. Some folks say you can leave it longer, but I was a little worried about it drying out my hair too much. While I waited, I just chilled in the shower, maybe did some exfoliating. You know, the usual shower multitasking.
Rinsing and Praying
Rinsing was the real test. I stood under the showerhead for what felt like forever, trying to get all the little bits of powder out of my hair. It took some serious rinsing, let me tell you. I used my fingers to kind of comb through my hair and make sure it was all out. Finally, the water ran clear, and I was like, “Phew, thank goodness that’s over.”
The Results
After I got out and towel-dried my hair, it felt…different. Not bad, just different. It was definitely clean, like, squeaky clean. My scalp felt refreshed, which was nice. Once it air-dried, my hair was surprisingly soft and had this natural shine to it. I was pretty impressed, not gonna lie.
- Mixing: Dumped powders, added water, made a paste.
- Applying: Scooped paste, massaged into scalp and hair, got messy.
- Waiting: Left it on for 15-20 minutes, chilled in the shower.
- Rinsing: Rinsed like crazy, combed with fingers, made sure it was all out.
- Results: Hair felt clean, refreshed, soft, and shiny.
I’ve used this mix a few times now, and I’m starting to really like it. It’s a bit of a process, but my hair seems to be loving it. It feels healthier, stronger, and it’s definitely growing faster. Plus, it’s all-natural, which is a huge bonus for me. So, yeah, I’d say give it a shot if you’re looking for a natural alternative to your regular shampoo. Just be prepared for a bit of a mess!
