So, I’ve been doing this whole intermittent fasting thing for a while now, and I’m always looking for ways to make it a bit easier. I’m a big fan of matcha, that vibrant green Japanese tea, and I started wondering if I could have it during my fasting periods. I did some digging online and found a bunch of mixed answers. Some folks were saying it’s totally fine, others were warning it could break your fast. It was a mess! So, I decided to just try it out myself and see what happens.
First off, I made sure I was using pure matcha powder. No sweeteners, no milk, just the good stuff. I boiled some water, whisked up a teaspoon of matcha with it, and that was my breakfast for the first day of my experiment. I was honestly a bit worried it might make me hungry or spike my blood sugar, but I’m a man of experimentation. I decided to see what the heck would happen.
Here’s what I did:
- Day 1: Had my plain matcha first thing in the morning. I was in the middle of a 16-hour fast.
- Day 2: Repeated the same thing, still no food, just plain matcha.
- Day 3: Continued the experiment and I added one more day just to be sure.
The Results
Honestly, it was pretty uneventful, in the best way possible! I didn’t feel any hungrier than usual. And let me tell you, I get hangry! My energy levels were pretty stable, no crashes or anything. And I didn’t notice any weird changes in my blood sugar levels or my digestion. I kept my finger on the pulse through the whole thing.
So, after a few days of this, I felt pretty confident that plain matcha, made with just hot water, wasn’t messing with my fast. It actually made the whole experience a little nicer. Having that warm, earthy drink in the morning was a nice little ritual. It really helped me get through the mornings. It’s been a game-changer, seriously. I think I’m going to make this a part of my normal fasting routine.
Now, I’m not saying this is some magic bullet. I am just sharing what worked for me. If you add milk, sugar, or anything else to your matcha, that’s a whole different story. That’ll probably break your fast. But if you’re like me and you just want to enjoy a simple cup of matcha during your fasting window, I think you’re good to go. Plain matcha did wonders for me, and I’m certain it will do the same for you.
