Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get back in shape, and I figured an elliptical trainer would be a good way to do it. After looking around for a while, I decided to go with the Spirit XE295. I’d heard good things about it, and it seemed like a solid choice for home use.
When it arrived, I had to put it together. It wasn’t too hard, but it definitely took some time. Once it was all set up, I was eager to try it out.
First thing I noticed, this thing is sturdy. It didn’t wobble or anything, even when I really got going. And it’s smooth, too. The motion felt really natural, not jerky at all. I guess that’s because of the heavy flywheel – 30 pounds, I think. It makes a big difference.
- Getting started: Hopped on, adjusted the pedals a bit, and started pedaling. Easy peasy.
- The console: It’s got a simple LCD display. Shows all the basic stuff – time, distance, calories, heart rate. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.
- Resistance levels: There are a bunch of resistance levels. I started low, just to warm up. Then I cranked it up to see how it felt. It got tough, real quick! Good for a real workout.
- The workout: I did about 30 minutes my first time. Felt great afterward. Not too sore, but I definitely felt like I’d exercised.
I’ve been using it a few times a week now, and I’m really happy with it. It’s a solid machine. I’ve bumped up the resistance a few times as I’ve gotten stronger. I can see why they call it commercial grade. Feels like the ones at the gym, you know?
Overall Impression
This Spirit XE295 is a winner. It’s smooth, it’s solid, and it gives me a great workout. If you’re looking for an elliptical for home, I’d say give this one a look. It wasn’t cheap, but I think it’s worth the money. It feels like it’ll last a long time. I also found out that it’s covered for up to 2 years. And now, a few months later? Still going strong! This thing has really helped me get back on track with my fitness goals.
