Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about canela oil, which is basically cinnamon oil, for hair. People are saying it’s amazing for shine and making your hair feel soft. I was a bit skeptical, but also super curious. I mean, who doesn’t want shiny, awesome-looking hair, right? So, I decided to give it a shot and see what the hype is all about.
First things first, I did a little digging. Found out that a lot of hair products have nasty chemicals like sulfates that can totally mess with your hair’s natural oils. That’s a big no-no for me. I’m all about that natural life. This cinnamon oil thing seemed promising because it’s, well, natural.
I grabbed some cinnamon essential oil from a local health store. Smelled strongly, just like you’d expect! I didn’t want to put this stuff directly on my hair, no way. I figured that would be way too intense. After some more research, I decided to mix it with a carrier oil, but not any carrier oil. I used some coconut oil that I had lying around. Mixed a few drops of the cinnamon oil into about two tablespoons of the coconut oil.
Before applying it, I warmed up the mixture a bit. Just put the bowl with the oil mix in a bigger bowl of hot water. It felt kinda nice and warm, not hot at all, which is important.
Application time! I parted my hair and started applying the oil mix to my scalp and through the lengths of my hair. I made sure everything was nicely coated, but not dripping. It was a bit messy, I won’t lie. But I was committed!
- I massaged my scalp for a good 5-10 minutes. Felt super relaxing, to be honest.
- Then I wrapped my hair in a warm towel. I just dampened a towel with warm water and wrung it out.
- Left it on for about 30 minutes. I think you could leave it longer, but I was getting impatient.
Then came the washing part. I used my regular shampoo and conditioner, nothing fancy. It took a couple of washes to get all the oil out, but that was expected.
The Result?
My hair did feel softer, I have to admit. And yeah, it had a nice shine to it. Not like a crazy, blinding shine, but definitely noticeable. My hair felt, I don’t know, healthier? It was less frizzy for sure, which is a big win for me. I did this a couple more times, once a week, and the results were pretty consistent. Shiny, soft hair. I think I’m a convert! It’s become a regular part of my hair care routine now.
I guess those folks online were right. Canela oil, or cinnamon oil, can actually do some good for your hair. Just make sure you dilute it properly and do a patch test first, just in case. You never know how your skin might react. It’s a bit of work, but totally worth it in my opinion! Give it a try, and let me know what you think! Maybe it’ll work wonders for you too!
