Okay, so I wanted to try something new with my hair, and I’d heard a lot about henna. It’s supposed to be all-natural and stuff, so I thought, why not? I picked up some henna powder from a local store—it was this weird green color, which I guess is normal. Anyway, the first thing I did was mix it up. I followed the instructions online, adding some lemon juice and letting it sit overnight. It turned into this thick, mud-like paste.
The next day, I got down to business. I started by sectioning my hair—like you see those stylists do on TV. Then, I slathered the henna paste all over my hair, making sure every strand was covered. It was messy, I won’t lie. I wrapped my hair in plastic wrap and waited. And waited. I think I left it on for about four hours, just chilling and watching some shows.
- Sectioned my hair carefully.
- Applied the henna paste thoroughly.
- Wrapped my hair and waited.
Rinsing it out was a whole other adventure. It took forever to get all that mud out of my hair. But once I did, my hair felt different—stronger, maybe? The color was subtle at first, kind of a reddish tint. But over the next few days, it deepened into this rich, auburn color. I was actually pretty impressed.
What I Learned
It’s been a couple of months now, and the color is still there. It’s faded a little, but not much. I’ve noticed that my hair feels healthier, too. I guess those people online weren’t lying about henna being good for your hair.
One thing I realized is that henna is pretty permanent. I mean, they say it fades, but this stuff is sticking around. So, if you’re thinking about trying it, make sure you’re ready for a long-term commitment. And yeah, it might be tough to go lighter later on if you change your mind.
Overall, I’d say my henna experiment was a success. It was a bit of work, and definitely messy, but I like the results. My hair looks and feels great, and I dig the color. If you’re up for something different and don’t mind a bit of a process, I’d say give henna a shot. Just be prepared for the long haul!
