Okay, so the other day I got it in my head that I wanted to try making my own hair perfume. I’d been seeing these “hair shots” things online and thought, “Why not? I can do that.” Plus, I love having my hair smell good, and regular perfume can be kind of harsh, you know?
Getting Started
So, I started digging around online to see what I’d need. Turns out, it’s pretty simple. You basically just need some essential oils, a spray bottle, and something to mix the oils with. I already had a bunch of essential oils at home because I’m into all that aromatherapy stuff. Lavender, rose, lemongrass, cedarwood – you name it, I probably have it. I even found out that some of these oils can actually be good for your scalp and hair, which is a nice bonus.
Mixing it Up
Next, I grabbed a small spray bottle I had lying around and got to work. I decided to go with a mix of lavender and rose because that’s one of my favorite combos. I put a few drops of each into the bottle. Then, I filled the rest of the bottle up with something I would use. I didn’t want to use anything with alcohol in it because that can dry out your hair. So, I mixed them up, and that was pretty much it!
The Test Run
I sprayed some of the mixture onto my hair – about 3-4 sprays for my thin hair, but if you have thicker hair, you might need 4-5 sprays. I noticed the scent right away, and it was lovely. Not too strong, just a nice, subtle fragrance. Then I went about my day as usual.
All-Day Freshness
The real test was seeing how long the scent would last. I have to say, I was pretty impressed. Even after a long day of running around, my hair still smelled great. It’s like this stuff is designed to last longer than regular perfume. I also noticed that my hair didn’t feel dry or anything, which is great.
Heat Activated
One thing I read online was that these hair perfumes are “heat activated.” I guess that means when your head heats up, like when you’re walking or exercising, the scent gets stronger. I did notice that when I was doing some Pilates later in the day, the fragrance seemed to be more noticeable. Pretty cool, right?
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m really happy with how this little experiment turned out. It was super easy to make my own hair perfume, and it smells amazing. I think I’m going to keep using this stuff, especially on days when I don’t wash my hair. It’s a great way to keep it smelling fresh without having to wash it all the time.
- Easy to make: Just mix some essential oils and that’s it!
- Smells great: You can customize the scent to your liking.
- Lasts all day: No need to reapply throughout the day.
- Good for your hair: Doesn’t contain harsh ingredients.
- Heat activated: The scent gets stronger when you’re active.
So yeah, if you’re looking for a way to keep your hair smelling nice without using regular perfume, I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s a fun little DIY project, and you might just find your new favorite hair product!
