Well, howdy there! Let’s chew the fat about somethin’ real important – feedin’ your happiness. Yep, you heard right, just like feedin’ chickens or the ol’ hog, you gotta feed your happy too. It ain’t somethin’ that just shows up and stays put all by itself, ya know. You gotta work at it, like tendin’ a garden.
First off, sleep, that’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout. Gotta get yourself enough shut-eye. When I was young, we’d be up with the roosters and work till the sun went down, but even then, we knew the value of a good night’s sleep. Nowadays, folks stay up all night starin’ at them glowin’ boxes, no wonder they ain’t happy. Gotta get your rest, or you’ll be grumpy as a bear with a sore paw.
And then there’s movin’ around. Don’t gotta run a marathon or nothin’, just get yourself movin’. A little walk in the mornin’ air, stretch your arms and legs, feels good, don’t it? Keeps your bones from gettin’ stiff and your mind from gettin’ foggy. When I was young we used to walk everywhere and did not have those fancy cars. We worked in the fields and moved around a lot. I never saw so many fat people like I do today. It’s important so get to movin’!
- Wakin’ up right: Now, this here’s important. Don’t just jump outta bed like the barn’s on fire. Set yourself a nice alarm, somethin’ gentle, like birds chirpin’ or a pretty song. Not one of them loud buzzers that make you wanna throw the clock across the room. And get up early enough so you ain’t gotta rush around like a headless chicken.
- Little things matter: It ain’t always the big stuff that makes you happy. Sometimes it’s the little things. Like a hot cup of coffee in the mornin’, watchin’ the sunrise, hear the birds. Pay attention to them little things, they add up, they sure do.
- Eat good: Don’t go stuffin’ yourself with junk food all day, eat proper. Lots of greens, some good meat if you can get it, and fruit when it’s in season. Your body’s like an engine, gotta give it the right fuel to run smooth. I always made sure my children ate well so that they could grow up to be strong and healthy.
Another thing is bein’ thankful. Take a minute each day and think about what you got, not what you ain’t got. Got a roof over your head? Food on the table? Folks who care about you? Then you’re richer than you think. We didn’t have much when I was young, but we were always thankful for what we had.
And don’t forget about other folks. Help out a neighbor, visit a friend who’s feelin’ down, lend a hand to someone in need. Makes you feel good, and it makes the world a little bit better place. We always helped each other out in our town, that’s how we did things.
Now, some folks think money is the key to happiness. Let me tell you somethin’, it ain’t. Money can buy you things, sure, but it can’t buy you happiness. True happiness comes from havin’ good folks around you, doin’ somethin’ you love, and helpin’ others. I have seen rich people who are miserable and poor people who are happy. It’s not about the money.
So, there you have it, a few thoughts on feedin’ your happiness. It ain’t rocket science, just good common sense. Take care of yourself, be kind to others, and appreciate the little things. You do that, and you’ll be well on your way to a happy life. Remember, like the old saying goes, “It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen”. And one more thing, bein’ happy is a choice. You gotta choose to be happy, every single day. Don’t let the world drag you down, you’re stronger than that.
